Prof. Dr. A. Oğuz Tanrıdağ was born in Ankara on October 17, 1951. He began his medical studies at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, graduating in 1975. Following his compulsory service in the Turkish Air Force Flight Units (1976–1979), he completed his neurology specialization at the GATA Department of Neurology (1979–1982). After serving at Etimesgut Air Hospital (1982–1984), he broadened his academic experience abroad as a clinical researcher at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, USA (1984–1986). Upon returning, he advanced quickly in his academic career, becoming Assistant Professor in 1986, Associate Professor in 1987, and Full Professor in 1993. His contributions to neurology were recognized early with the TÜBİTAK Incentive Award (1989). Between 2002 and 2006, Prof. Tanrıdağ led the GATA Haydarpaşa Neurology Service as Chief of Service. Since 2003, he has served as Editor of the Turkish Journal of Neurology, and in 2004 he was appointed Cognitive Group Coordinator of the Turkish Neurology Association. Internationally, he has been active as Cognitive Group Secretary of the Federation of European Neurological Societies since 2006. With decades of expertise in neurology, Prof. Tanrıdağ joined NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital in 2006, where he continues to play a leading role in advancing clinical practice, research, and education in neurology, with a special focus on cognitive disorders.
