Prof. Amos Toren is a distinguished pediatric hemato-oncologist and former Director of the Pediatric Hemato-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) Division. He is board-certified in Pediatrics, General Hematology, and Pediatric Hemato-Oncology, and served for two terms as Head of the Division of Hematology at the Tel Aviv University School of Medicine. Prof. Toren holds a PhD in Genetics and a Master of Health Administration (MHA) from the Recanati Business School, Tel Aviv University, reflecting his combined expertise in advanced biomedical research and healthcare leadership. Research Interests Prof. Toren’s main research areas include: CAR T-cell therapy for relapsed or resistant CD19-positive leukemias and lymphomas The effects of cannabinoids on pediatric tumors Cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells for pediatric cancer treatment Pediatric brain tumor research Clinical & Academic Leadership The Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Department at Sheba Medical Center, where Prof. Toren has played a leading role, is Israel’s foremost center for the treatment of childhood cancers. The department includes a Pediatric Oncology Outpatient Clinic and Day Care Unit, an Inpatient Ward, and a specialized Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit. While primarily focused on children, the department also treats young adults up to the age of 30 with tumors typical of pediatric oncology. International Collaboration This department is also Israel’s leading research center in childhood cancer, maintaining strong collaborative ties with major pediatric oncology centers worldwide, including St. Anna Children’s Hospital (Austria), the Pediatric Oncology Branch of the National Cancer Institute (NIH, USA), and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (USA). Prof. Toren is widely recognized for his contributions to advancing innovative therapies and international research collaboration in pediatric cancer care.
