Dr Hee Owen Kim

Experience Dr Owen Hee is an experienced ophthalmologist and eye surgeon practicing at Gleneagles Hospital in Singapore. He has over 15 years of experience in treating a wide range of eye conditions. Dr. Owen specialises in cataract surgery and is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. He is highly skilled in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). He also has strong expertise in correcting vision problems such as presbyopia, short-sightedness (myopia), and astigmatism using advanced premium intraocular lenses during cataract surgery. In addition to cataract and glaucoma care, Dr. Owen provides comprehensive eye treatment. His clinical work includes managing retinal conditions such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease, as well as myopia control, corneal disorders, eye infections, and eye injuries. Before starting his private practice, Dr. Owen worked as a Senior Consultant at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He also served as a part-time consultant to the Ministry of Health, where he provided expert advice in ophthalmology. In 2011, Dr. Owen received a scholarship from Tan Tock Seng Hospital to pursue further postgraduate training in London. His training focused on health services research, including early detection of eye diseases and evaluating the cost-effectiveness of new eye treatments. Dr. Owen is actively involved in medical education. He has served as a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and as a Clinical Tutor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He is also deeply committed to healthcare quality and patient safety. As a Quality Review Officer at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute, he was responsible for monitoring and improving the quality and safety of eye care services across the institute.
