Dr. Alexander Kirienko

Dr. Alexander Kirienko is an internationally recognized orthopedic surgeon and one of the world’s leading experts in the Ilizarov apparatus, an advanced external fixation system used to lengthen bones, correct deformities, and treat complex fractures. He trained directly under Professor Gavriil Ilizarov, the inventor of the technique, working closely with him for several years. Originally from the former USSR (Rajcichinsk, 28 March 1959), Dr. Kirienko graduated in Medicine and Surgery in Russia in 1982 and completed his specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology in Kurgan, Siberia — the global center for Ilizarov training. He has lived and practiced in Italy since 1992. In 1993, he obtained a second medical degree and full medical license from the University of Milan. Today, he is a key figure in advanced orthopedics across major Italian medical institutions.
